If you envision yourself in a profession where helping people is your daily focus, then Medical Assisting may be the career path you want to explore. Our programs are constructed to give our students the knowledge, training and confidence needed to become part of the working medical community. At Midwest Institute you can expect:
•State of the art Laboratories and hands on training!
•All instructors are registered nurses and medical personnel who are experts in their subject matter areas.
•Working one on one with classmates to prepare students for patient contact
Our students learn first hand how technical skills, professionalism, attitude and confidence effect their growth potential. We emphasize that the learning does not stop with our program and that they will consistently be sharpening their knowledge and skills while building their career.
The job description of the medical assistant is often twofold, including both clinical and administrative responsibilities. Clinical responsibilities typically include taking medical histories, recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, processing laboratory tests, EKG’s, and assisting the doctor with exams. Administrative responsibilities typically include updating and filing medical records, scheduling appointments, insurance processing and coding, handling phone calls and general office management
The Medical Assistant career is growing much faster than most occupations due to the growing and aging population and many technological advances in medical treatment. Most of the students work for a variety of physicians offices, in clinics and hospitals. Others are in offices of other health practitioners such as chiropractors, optometrists and podiatrists.
This program is offered at the Fenton and Earth City Campus.
