This program is designed to prepare individuals to help doctors and nurse practitioners in their offices or other medical settings. As a scientific medical assistant, you carry out a wide range of tasks. CMAs are responsible for medical and surgical asepsis, taking vital signs, assisting the doctor with assessments and surgery, administering ECGs and administering medications. Scientific instruction consists of preparing patient for assessment and treatment, specimen collection, administering injections, phlebotomy, efficiency of standard lab tests, and using the electrocardiograph machine. Trainees will discover using technology in the health care field as they participate in the scientific experiences.
